In Spring 2016, we thought we were finished our new album when we realized another song was needed to round out the experience, which then turned into two songs. Somewhere in the middle of that, Tara broke her foot, so we stopped playing live, took a break from our socials, and focused on finishing the album. As of winter solstice, we decided we reached that goal. That’s when the artwork began to flow, so we knew we were on the right path.
ULTREYA! is an enthusiastic greeting amongst pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago in Spain which means, “Go forth with courage!” It’s the name of our new album, inspired by our time on The Way. As a reflection of our experience, we’ve created a 14 song adventure that draws upon the musical pilgrimage we began many moons ago. This album is our 3rd full length, and the first release since our 2013 EP, Gamma-Wave Rhythm.
We will be releasing ULTREYA! on vinyl in 3 parts. The first EP is called, The Wolf. The second EP, The Owl. The 3rd, The Bee. We chose The Wolf, The Owl & The Bee because they represent re-occurring animal totems on the Camino. Further explanation can be heard in the song by the same name, which has proven to be a crowd favourite at recent shows.
As mentioned, the artwork for ULTREYA! has been flowing since we finished recording the last song a couple of weeks ago. These illustrations are ideas for album covers drawn by Sködt. You can view more of his work at http://skodt.com
We’ll be sharing more artwork and updates as we go…
